Privacy Policy for Gmail Keyword Finder Chrome Extension
Last Updated: September 10, 2025
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how the Gmail Keyword Finder Chrome Extension (“the Extension”) handles user data.
We value your privacy and are committed to being transparent about how information is accessed and used.
2. Data We Access
The Extension requires limited permissions from your Gmail Account to function:
-
Gmail Read-Only Access (
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.readonly
)
– This allows the Extension to read Gmail messages (subject, sender, and body) in order to search for user-defined keywords.
-
User Email Access (
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.email
)
– This is used to display the logged-in account inside the extension UI.
No other permissions or data are requested.
3. How Data is Used
- Emails are scanned locally for the user’s chosen keywords.
- Only the sender’s email address and matched subject line are displayed in the extension results.
- Data is never uploaded, transmitted, or shared outside the user’s browser.
- All processing happens in real-time using the Gmail API.
4. Data Storage
- All matched emails and progress counts are stored only in
chrome.storage.local
, which is part of the user’s Chrome browser.
- This storage is private to the Extension and is cleared when the user removes the extension or clears browser data.
- No data is stored on our servers.
5. Data Sharing
We do not:
- Sell, rent, or trade your data.
- Share your Gmail data with third parties.
- Use your Gmail data for advertising or analytics.
Your Gmail data never leaves your browser.
6. Security
- All API calls are made securely over HTTPS.
- Since no data is transmitted externally, risks of interception or misuse are minimized.
- Users remain in full control of their data at all times.
7. User Control
Users can:
- Revoke the Extension’s access at any time from their Google Account permissions page.
- Clear all locally stored data using the Clear button inside the Extension popup.
- Uninstall the Extension at any time, which removes all local data.
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on the Chrome Web Store listing page
with an updated “Last Updated” date.
